Why my Vinted items aren't selling: 8 reasons and how to fix them
Listed for weeks with no views or messages? Here are the 8 most common mistakes that block sales on Vinted and how to fix them quickly.
You listed your items, waited several days... and nothing. No messages, no favorites, sometimes not even any views. This is very common on Vinted and almost always has an identifiable cause. Here are 8 frequent reasons, and how to fix them quickly.
1. The main photo does not make people want to click
On Vinted, buyers see a grid of thumbnails. If your main photo is dark, blurry, or shows the item crumpled flat on the floor, few people will click, however good the actual garment is.
Avoid
“Item lying on an unmade bed, yellow artificial lighting”
Use instead
“Item on a hanger, white background, natural light facing a window”
Quick fix
Retake only the main photo of your unsold items. A better cover photo is often enough to bring the views back, without touching the price or the title. To get there without buying anything, follow our article on Vinted clothing photos with no equipment.
2. The title does not contain the right keywords
If your title is vague ("Nice jacket", "Pretty dress"), your item does not appear in any search. The title appears to be the field that carries the most weight in Vinted's search; the description counts as well, but a brand or size that only appears there seems to pull less weight.
The fix: always include the brand, item type, color, and size. Check our guide on the keywords that attract buyers for the full method. And to get the title and description straight from your photos, see our article on the automatic Vinted description with AI.
3. The price is too high compared to the market
Vinted buyers compare prices in seconds. If your item is clearly more expensive than equivalent listings, it will not sell, even if it is in better condition.
- Search for the same item on Vinted and look at the ones that have already sold
- Align with the median price of recent sales, not with items currently listed
- If you want a higher price, justify it with exceptional photos
4. The listing has aged in the results
Vinted ranks search results by relevance, and newer listings seem to get a real lift in that ranking. An item listed a few weeks ago tends to slide behind newer arrivals, where fewer buyers scroll. The fix is straightforward: bring your listings back up regularly, either with a spaced-out delete-and-relist or with a paid Bump. Our complete Vinted repost guide covers the method. It is not a penalty, only the weight given to freshness: our article on how the Vinted algorithm works explains that ranking.
Pro tip
Repost unsold items at an interval you adjust to their results, starting with a long one. For the hour, early evening in your own time zone, around 6 to 10 pm, is a decent first guess for a repost; your Vinted stats will say whether it holds.
5. Wrong category or missing attributes
When a buyer filters by size, color, or material, items without those attributes disappear from results. Leave the main color or the fabric blank and every shopper who filters on them will never see the item.
- Pick the narrowest category Vinted offers, down to the last subcategory
- Set color, fabric, style and fit, even when the photos make them obvious
- Check the size against Vinted's standards (US and EU brand sizing sometimes differ)
6. No Vinted shipping offered
Many buyers filter results to see only items that can be shipped through Vinted. If you only offer in-person pickup or your own delivery method, those buyers may never see your item.
Worth checking
Shipping options on Vinted vary by country and by category. Make sure your shipping option is enabled before relisting.
7. The seller profile lacks credibility
A profile with no photo, no description, and zero reviews does not inspire confidence. Buyers hesitate to purchase from an unknown seller with no history, especially for items over $20.
- Add a real profile photo (not a logo, not an avatar)
- Write a short bio ("Selling personal wardrobe, careful packaging, shipped within 48 hours")
- Ask your first buyers to leave a review after the sale
8. The market does not exist (yet) on Vinted
In our experience, some categories move slowly on Vinted: home decor, technical books, highly specialized sportswear, or ultra-luxury brands. If your item belongs to a niche with little search demand, consider a platform that specializes in that kind of item.
Once these eight blockers are cleared, the question shifts from fixing a stalled listing to speeding up turnover. Our 7 tips to sell faster on Vinted pick up from there.

How long should I wait before dropping the price?
There is no fixed delay. Look at the numbers instead: if the item gets views and favorites but no offer, the price is the likely brake, and a small cut is worth trying. If it gets almost no views, even after a repost, check the title, the category and the main photo before touching the price.
Does deleting and relisting an item help?
Relisting gives the item a new date and a fresh round of visibility, but you lose all the favorites you had accumulated. For an item that already has some, the paid Bump or a price cut is usually the better choice: unlike relisting, Bump does not delete anything and keeps your history, but it does not reset the publication date either.
My items get views but nobody buys: why?
Views without conversions mean something is discouraging the purchase once buyers are on the listing: price too high, poor-quality detail photos, description too vague, or a flaw that is poorly explained. Compare your listing to similar items that are actually selling.
How do I know if my item has been viewed?
Vinted shows a view counter on your own listings, next to the number of favorites. It's the first figure to check: plenty of views but no favorites point to the price or the description, while very few views point to the title and the main photo.
