Why my Vinted items aren't selling: 8 reasons and how to fix them

6 min read·8 April 2025

Listed for weeks with no views or messages? Here are the 8 most common mistakes that block sales on Vinted and how to fix them quickly.

You listed your items, waited several days... and nothing. No messages, no likes, sometimes not even any views. This is very common on Vinted and almost always has an identifiable cause. Here are the 8 most frequent reasons — and how to fix them quickly.

1. The main photo does not make people want to click

On Vinted, buyers see a grid of thumbnails. If your main photo is dark, blurry, or shows the item crumpled flat on the floor, nobody clicks — regardless of how good the actual garment is.

❌ Avoid

✅ Use instead

Quick fix

Retake only the main photo of your unsold items. A better cover photo can multiply your views by 3 without changing the price or the title.

2. The title does not contain the right keywords

If your title is vague ("Nice jacket", "Pretty dress"), your item does not appear in any search. Vinted's search engine indexes only the title — not the description.

The fix: always include the brand, item type, colour, and size. Check our guide on the keywords that attract buyers for the full method.

3. The price is too high compared to the market

Vinted buyers compare prices in seconds. If your item is 20% more expensive than equivalent listings, it will not sell — even if it is in better condition.

  • Search for the same item on Vinted, filter by "Recently sold"
  • Align with the median price of recent sales, not with items currently listed
  • If you want a higher price, justify it with exceptional photos

4. The listing has aged in the results

Vinted sorts results by publication date by default. An item listed 3 weeks ago gets pushed to page 5 or 6, where almost nobody goes. The fix is straightforward: bump your listings regularly using the dedicated feature.

Pro tip

Bump your unsold items every 3 to 4 days, ideally in the evening between 7 pm and 10 pm to maximise visibility during the peak traffic window.

5. Wrong category or missing attributes

When a buyer filters by size, colour, or material, items without those attributes disappear from results. If you have not filled in the main colour or the material, you are missing a significant share of filtered traffic.

  • Check that the category is as specific as possible (including the subcategory)
  • Fill in colour, material, style, and cut even if they seem obvious
  • Check that the size matches Vinted's standards (some US vs EU brand sizing differs)

6. No Vinted shipping offered

Many buyers filter results by "With Vinted shipping". If you only offer in-person pickup or your own delivery method, you are invisible to those buyers — who account for the majority of transactions.

Worth checking

Vinted has made integrated shipping mandatory for certain categories in several countries. Make sure your shipping option is enabled before relisting.

7. The seller profile lacks credibility

A profile with no photo, no description, and zero reviews does not inspire confidence. Buyers hesitate to purchase from an unknown seller with no history, especially for items over 20 euros.

  • Add a real profile photo (not a logo, not an avatar)
  • Write a short bio ("Selling personal wardrobe, careful packaging, shipped within 48h")
  • Ask your first buyers to leave a review after the sale

8. The market does not exist (yet) on Vinted

Some categories sell very poorly on Vinted: home decor, technical books, highly specialised sportswear, or ultra-luxury brands. If your item belongs to a niche with little search demand, consider other platforms (such as Leboncoin, Vestiaire Collective, or Depop, depending on the case).

Frequently asked questions

How long should I wait before dropping the price?

If your item has had no views in 5 days despite a bump, the price is likely the issue. If you have views but no messages, it is more likely the photos or description that are putting people off.

Does deleting and relisting an item help?

Relisting does push the item back to the top of results, but you lose all the likes you had accumulated. Use Vinted's official "Bump" feature instead — it keeps the history and avoids any risk of being flagged for artificial behaviour.

My items get views but nobody buys — why?

Views without conversions mean something is discouraging the purchase once buyers are on the listing: price too high, poor-quality detail photos, description too vague, or a flaw that is poorly explained. Compare your listing to similar items that are actually selling.

How do I know if my item has been viewed?

Vinted does not show a view counter on listings for sellers. You can only rely on messages received and likes to gauge interest.
