Publish on Vinted

What you need before publishing, the three ways out of the import screen, the queue and its statuses, pausing, and intended versus unintended drafts.

Publishing goes out from your own browser, never from our servers. That is the Chrome extension's job: Pikmatic prepares the listing, and the extension posts it on Vinted from your session, as if you had entered it yourself.

The practical consequence, and the one that surprises people most often: Chrome must be open, with the extension active, for a publish to move forward.

Before you publish

Three conditions, and the screen tells you which one is missing.

  1. The extension is linked to your account. Otherwise the button stays disabled and shows “Extension not linked”.
  2. The extension is open in Chrome. Otherwise the screen shows “Extension is inactive”.
  3. You are logged in to Vinted in that same browser, with the account you want to publish on.

The first point is sorted once and for all, in Quick start. The other two can be checked at a glance before each batch of publishes.

From the import screen

At the end of an import, once your items have been reviewed, the screen offers three ways out. They do not do the same thing, and the choice is made item by item.

  • “Keep in my imports”: the item is saved in Pikmatic and nothing goes to Vinted. Use it when you are preparing now to publish later.
  • “Publish as a draft on Vinted”: a draft is created on your Vinted account. The listing is not visible to buyers; you will publish it from Vinted whenever you like.
  • “Publish on Vinted”: the listing goes live immediately.

From your imported items

The “Imported items” screen brings together everything you have kept. Each item there has the same actions, “Publish” and “Publish (draft)”, and you can select several to send them in one go.

Items without a size in a category that requires one are flagged before sending: deal with them first, otherwise they would come back as drafts on Vinted.

The destination account

If you have linked several Vinted accounts, the screen shows the “Destination account” and a “Change” button. The note “Active in a browser” shows which account is currently logged in to Vinted in Chrome.

Publishing to an account other than the one open in the browser does not work: it is your Vinted session that posts the listing, so it is the session that decides who the seller is.

Follow the publishing queue

Publishes do not all go out at the same time. They enter a queue, handled one after the other, which you follow from the “Active queue” tab. The “History” tab keeps a record of what has already gone through.

Each item there shows where it is up to:

  • “Pending”, then “Uploading photos…” and “Photos OK”;
  • “Creating draft…” and “Draft OK”, the stage where the listing takes shape on Vinted;
  • “Publishing…”, then “Published” or “Failed”.

You can close the dashboard tab

The queue carries on as long as Chrome is running with the extension active. What needs to stay open is the browser, not the Pikmatic page.

Pause, resume, cancel

The “Pause” button stops new publishes from being sent; “Resume” restarts the queue where it left off. A publish that has already started runs to the end; it is not cut in half.

“Cancel all” empties the queue of pending publishes. It cannot be undone, and the screen reminds you of this, with the number of items affected, before letting you confirm.

Pikmatic sometimes pauses the queue itself, showing “Publishing paused”. The reasons and what to do are gathered in Troubleshooting.

Intended drafts and unintended drafts

The word draft covers two opposite situations, and mixing them up sends you looking for a problem where there is none.

  • The draft you asked for, with “Publish as a draft on Vinted”. Everything went fine.
  • The unintended draft, flagged by the “Draft on Vinted” label: you had asked for the listing to go live, and Vinted refused to publish it because a required piece of information is missing for that category, usually the size.

In the second case, the item tells you what is blocking it. Complete the draft directly on Vinted, then come back and mark it as published in Pikmatic so that both sides tell the same story.

When a publish fails

An item marked “Failed” is not lost: it stays in your items, with its photos and its text. The message shown gives the reason for the rejection, when Vinted provides one.

Correct what is flagged, then restart the publish. If the rejection keeps happening with no clear reason, what to do is explained in Troubleshooting.

Do not keep retrying

If Vinted rejects a publish, retrying it ten times in a row will not get it through, and the queue fills up with attempts doomed to fail. One correction, then one attempt.
