Review and correct a listing
Category, size, brand, material, title, description, price and photos: what the flags on the review screen mean, and in what order to deal with them.
The AI suggests, you decide. After the analysis, each item goes through a review screen where you correct whatever needs correcting before publishing. This is also where the two most common reasons for a listing not going through get sorted out: a category Vinted does not recognise, and a missing size.
Open an item
At the end of an import, the “Review” step lists your items and shows, for each one, how many fields need your attention. Click an item to open its details.
You will find the same items later in “Imported items”, with the same details screen: nothing forces you to review everything straight after the import.
The three flags to deal with
A field that the AI could not match to a value Vinted knows is flagged. There are three flags, and they do not take the same effort.
- “Unresolved”: no match found. You need to choose yourself.
- “Refine”: on the right track but incomplete, for example a category found down to the department but not down to the type of clothing.
- “To review”: a value is suggested, take a look before publishing.
These flags do not block publishing, except when Vinted requires the field for the chosen category. They show where your review pays off most.
The category, before anything else
The category drives the rest of the listing: it determines which sizes exist, and whether Vinted asks for a size, an ISBN or the language of a book. As long as it is not right, correcting the size is pointless.
Click the “Category” field to open the picker. It works down Vinted's category tree level by level, from the department to the precise type. The path already chosen is shown at each step.
Why the size stays greyed out
Until the category is fully resolved, the list of sizes stays empty: Vinted does not offer the same sizes for a pair of jeans, a pair of shoes and a coat. The screen tells you so rather than leaving you to search.
The size
Once the category is set, choose the size from the list offered. It comes from Vinted, not from us: these are exactly the values the site accepts for that category.
Without a size, the listing does not go through
In categories where Vinted requires it, an item without a size is rejected when published and stays as a draft on your Vinted account. The screen then shows “Vinted requires a size for this category.” This is the number one reason a listing does not go through.
Sometimes the size read on the label has no equivalent in the chosen category: an Italian size on an item filed under UK sizes, for example. The screen points this out and lets you choose the right one.
The brand
The brand is optional. Left empty, the listing goes out as “No brand”, which is a perfectly valid choice for an unbranded piece of clothing.
When the AI has read a brand on the label but cannot find it on Vinted, the screen tells you what it read. It is often a spelling variant: the right brand exists, under another name.
The material
The material is chosen from a fixed list, Vinted's own. A material read on the label but missing from that list is flagged “Unresolved”: pick the closest one, or leave it empty.
The title, description and price
The three fields written by the AI can be edited freely. The title and description have a maximum length on Vinted: beyond it, the screen warns you, and the text would be shortened when published.
One punctuation detail is worth knowing. Vinted sometimes rejects titles containing several dashes or hash signs: the screen flags it, publishing is still possible, but a plainer title goes through more easily.
The price is the AI's estimate, based on the photos and the category. It is a starting suggestion, not an instruction: you know your market better than the AI does.
The photos
The order of the photos is the order in your listing, and the first one is the thumbnail. Drag them to reorder them, or use “Move left” and “Move right”.
A photo can be marked as a label photo rather than a product photo. This helps the AI, which then knows where to look for the composition and the size.
Books
Book categories ask for two extra fields: the ISBN, printed under the barcode on the back of the book, and the language of the book. Vinted requires them, and the listing stays as a draft without them.
When the ISBN makes it possible to work it out, the language is suggested automatically. Check it anyway on a translated edition: the ISBN of a foreign book published in the UK indicates English, which is correct, but surprising.
Save
The “Save” button keeps your corrections in Pikmatic, without sending anything to Vinted. If you leave the screen without saving, Pikmatic warns you rather than silently losing your work.
When you are happy with the item, the next part happens in Publish on Vinted.
